Nitflixx – No Nits No Chemicals

If your new to the ‘nit club’ I think I know how you’re feeling – my first head lice experience was horrifying… well to me anyway, at that time!

I was at work and answered a phone call from my girl’s daycare… “We’ve noticed that your girls (twins) have been scratching their hair this morning so we did a quick check.  They both have head lice I’m afraid and you will need to come and collect them asap to treat their hair.”

Sound familiar?  I’ve gotta say I was a little panicked!  Head lice? NITS??  Dirty, germy, crawly nits… on my kids??  What do I do?  I’ve got to go and get them, treat their hair – how do I treat their hair?  I’m at work, I can’t leave work.  I need to go to the shop, what do I buy, what do I do?

I sheepishly explained the situation to my manager who pretty much put her arm around my shoulder and said “you go and do what you need to do!” – and then proceeded to tell me about her first experience with the retched things at the hairdresser, where she was more or less shooed out of the shop with her daughter (ouch!).

After this I headed to the chemist where the lady was very helpful and showed me through a whole aisle of products to buy!  Then numerous friends I had spoken to gave me a warm welcome to ‘the nit club’!

This was 6 years ago, my girls have since been to preschool and now primary school…. and we have been continuously treating head lice – which we lovingly refer to as ‘buggies’ – ever since!

At one point it was suggested to me to try methylated spirits?  Someone else had told a friend of mine that they had used flea wash, same as they use on their dog, works a treat apparently but to me it sounded like people who had reached breaking point!

I chose to STOP WITH THE CHEMICALS altogether, THEY WEREN’T WORKING ANYWAY!  I wanted a routine that was natural, chemical free, safe for my family, affordable and simple – no stress! 

AND I FOUND A WAY … and I use it… AND IT WORKS!

I’m sure there are many others that treat and maintain head lice this way, it’s not a secret, but it can be difficult to know where to start and which products to use and this is what has prompted me to write this guide and put together the Nitflixx Starter Kit – I know I would have loved for something like this to be available when I started.
